The online registration system and membership in Komodo Island and Padar Island which are included in the Komodo National Park area are expected to be able to ward off the bad effects of tourist invasions, such as the problem of mounting waste and damage to the ecosystem.

“The context of this membership is to improve the quality of tourism services, conservation research programs, and community empowerment in Komodo National Park. Including to increase regional income so as to encourage the growth of the local economy,” said the Director of the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BOPLBF) Shana Fatina, as quoted by Antara. quoted from the official statement of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) on Thursday (2/7).

Komodo National Park has been opened gradually. Later, not all locations can be visited in general.

Rinca Island can be visited by tourists without membership, while Komodo Island and Padar Island are only for tourists who have a membership.

Likewise, the water area will be regulated so as to pay attention to the carrying capacity and capacity of tourists that do not interfere with the sustainability of the ecosystem.

Currently, the implementation of the membership system is still being coordinated by the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority Agency (BOPLBF) and the Komodo National Park, local governments, tourism stakeholders in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

“The implementation has not been carried out. It is currently in the formulation stage. However, there will be a division of space. Which is for the public which is for the public and which one has membership or members,”
